Byrne’s Night started as the brainchild of (Dundee native) Lola Stephen and Maddy O’Keefe under their project Dancing Barefoot as a celebration of Scotland’s two greatest poets – Robert Burns and David Byrne (he was born in Dumbarton look it up!). Everyone loves Talking Heads and the demand for involvement was overwhelming, with members of Shame, Goat Girl, PVA, Sports Team, Sorry, Deadletter, Dream Wife, Honeyglaze, The Golden Dregs, Gently Tender and so many more taking part. Starting in 2023 at Hackney’s glittery Moth Club, with supergroup Byrne-adjacent cover sets and Burns poems in-between, the show sold out in a matter of days and amassed a four digit waitlist. After a very successful second year, the tribute has been invited out of its annual January home of Moth Club, into Brockwell Park’s Wide Awake Festival in May.
